Delaware Park – Buffalo, New York

With the warm sun shining through the windows of the studio today,  and clients starting to call to schedule their family portraits for this coming spring/summer, I’m reminded of so many sessions at Delaware Park from last summer.  Buffalo has so many different parks and areas to choose from for portraits, but none compare to Delaware Park in my opinion.  I know Delaware Park is a popular area (some may even say over-done), it’s still one of my  favorite locations to schedule engagement, children, and family sessions. It’s nice because there are so many different backgrounds within walking distance of each other. The steps of the Albright Knox call-out classic Buffalo portraiture.  The willow trees are so soft and organic, and every time I see the old stone bridge I’m reminded of one of my favorite books, City of Light, where they mention horse-drawn sleigh rides through the park during the winter months in the early 1900’s. The bridge is over 100 years old and still in fantastic condition.  We are very lucky to have such a beautiful scenic space right within the city of Buffalo.  Spring is only days away and for the first time in months I feel like there is light at the end of this cold snowy tunnel we’ve been living in since the beginning of January (and really November for some areas).  I’m looking forward to the snow fully melting, April showers to cleanse this salt ridden city, and the trees to bloom. It’s time to get back outside with my camera (and my scooter)!
