Well, that would me: Melissa Parrish, owner and photographer of Lovely Day Photo. Hello and welcome!
Welcome to Lovely Day Photo, where we specialize in capturing life’s most meaningful moments. Whether it’s your wedding day, welcoming a newborn into your family, or creating memories with your loved ones, our goal is to preserve your story in a way that feels authentic, beautiful, and timeless.
Founded in 2006 by Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduate Melissa Parrish, Lovely Day Photo has grown into an award-winning boutique studio based in Buffalo, NY. With nearly two decades in the wedding and portrait industry, we bring experience, artistry, and a deep appreciation for storytelling to every session. The best photographs aren’t just about how they look—they’re about how they feel. That’s why we focus on capturing real moments, genuine connections, and the little details that make your story unique.
In addition to weddings and portraits, we also offer professional corporate photography, providing high-quality headshots, branding sessions, and event coverage for businesses and professionals. Whether you’re looking to refresh your online presence or capture an important company milestone, we deliver polished, modern images that reflect your brand with professionalism and authenticity.
From the grandest celebrations to the quietest in-between moments, we are honored to be part of your journey. Every time we pick up the camera, it truly is a lovely day.
When I’m not behind my camera, you’ll find me outdoors, soaking up sunshine and fresh air. I’m an avid cyclist and a sponsored rider for Shickluna Bikes on Hertel Ave. As the organizer of Buffalo’s only women-only road cycling group, the Shickluna Women’s Devo Project, I’m passionate about empowering female athletes. We focus on building confidence, improving bike-handling skills, mastering group riding, and—of course—pushing for more speed!
Cycling is more than a hobby for me—it’s a lifestyle. I participate in several local events, including the 100-mile Ride for Roswell, and when Buffalo’s snow sets in, I keep the momentum going with hours on my indoor trainer. I ride about 5000 miles a year to put it into perspective.
Beyond the bike, I’m proud to be a member of the Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo, the country’s second-oldest women-only social club and one of the city’s historic gems. As you can tell, I’m a big believer in the power of women’s camaraderie! It’s also one of my favorite wedding venues to photograph. And, of course, I can’t forget my trusty sidekick, Magdalena (“Maggie”), my English Bulldog. Maggie’s always by my side during editing sessions, though she’s more likely to be found curled up in the coziest spot than behind the lens.
Food and travel are my fuel. Whether it’s exploring new local restaurants or embarking on faraway adventures, I’m always inspired by the new stories and people I encounter. But no matter where I go, my heart will always be rooted in Buffalo. This city—with its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture—constantly recharges my creative spirit and reminds me why I love what I do.
Every day, I’m grateful to call Buffalo home. Its “Buffalove” runs through me, and I’m honored to capture the moments that matter most to you right here in this incredible community. Go Bills!
