Well, that would me: Melissa Sorrentino, owner and photographer of Lovely Day Photo. Hello and welcome!
Photography has been my life-long passion, and my goal from a very young age was to open my own studio. Though originally from Honeoye Falls, NY, I am a proud Buffalo girl since 2002. I moved here after graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to manage four local portrait studios.
In 2006, I ventured out on my own and made my dream a reality when Lovely Day Photo was born. I am grateful that my passion has turned into a career where I am privileged to bear witness to my clients’ happiest moments and serve as their life’s visual storyteller.
I am blessed and honored to still photograph many clients who have been with me from the start of my business!
Immersed in the wedding and portrait industry for over 15 years, I have the experience, expertise, and professionalism you are looking for when hiring a photographer. Plus, I love to have fun! It sounds cliché, but it really is a “lovely day” every time I pick up my camera.
You’ll likely find me outside being active when I'm not behind my camera. I spend the warm months soaking in as much sunshine and fresh air as possible. I am an avid cyclist, participating in several local events including the 100-mile route for The Ride for Roswell. During our long Buffalo winters, I'm on my Peloton or trainer getting ready for my next "century ride." I love the challenge of riding 100+ miles or any ride that includes climbing hills. If I am not on my bike, I also enjoy kayaking and hiking.
I am a proud “Big Sister” to an awesome “Little Sister” as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Erie, Niagara, & The Southern Tier program, and I have been volunteering my time with this special organization for several years. I am an active member of the Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo – and it happens to be one of my favorite venues to photograph in Western New York.
I have two dogs - Oliver is a rescue dorkie (Yorkie & Daschund mix) from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter and Magdalena “Maggie” is my English Bulldog pup. You’ll often spy her on social media in a behind-the-scenes look at editing with her snuggled up next to my computer. She’s got quite an eye for the right shot.
Food and travel are ways to my heart. I am always ready to try a new, local restaurant or take on an exciting adventure. However, wherever travels may lead me, my heart always yearns to return home to Buffalo and it beats "Buffalove" every day. This city - filled with stunning architecture, rich in history, perched alongside a beautiful lake, and so many other things - fuels my soul.
Hi! I’m Robin, Lovely Day’s studio manager and Melissa’s go-to gal! After dedicating more than 12 years as the Courage of Carly Fund Manager at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, I joined Lovely Day Photo part-time in October 2018 so I could spend more time as a mom to my son, Wes. But, that wasn’t my first introduction to Lovely Day! I’ve been a loyal client (and fangirl) since 2014 when Melissa photographed my wedding to my husband, Ryan. Since then she’s captured my maternity photos, my 5-week-preemie’s newborn photos, and our family portraits each year. I like to think of myself as the perfect ying to Melissa’s yang – she is the creative, artistic genius and I am the business-oriented, detailed, good-with-words type. A Buffalo native, I am a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, love to tear up a dance floor when given the opportunity, and enjoy reading with my City of Buffalo Animal Shelter rescue pitbull, Carly, snuggled next to me.
