The journey to parenthood is not always easy, but I most certainly see it as exceptionally beautiful and miraculous. Maternity portrait sessions are a wonderful way to honor your strength, your excitement, and your journey to becoming a parent. And, then…make way for the tiniest fingers and toes, the chubbiest cheeks, the softest skin – the most delicate and precious details preserved forever thanks to a newborn portrait session, allowing you to fondly remember those early days for years to come.
During your maternity session, I want you to feel your most comfortable and glamorous, so I strive to provide all of the amenities and options available to do so. First, your choice of locations. Sessions can be held inside or outside, at the studio, at your home or desired location. I will happily offer location suggestions if needed. Second, I am happy to provide an assortment of maternity gowns and attire (mostly neutral tones) that I know photograph well. Of course, if you have a special outfit or prefer your clothing, you are welcome to wear whatever makes you feel most beautiful! I provide all clients with some style tips and a clothing guide to achieve a look of effortless coordination and a picture-perfect moment. Also, I coordinate with local beauty professionals to offer you on-site hair and makeup services. Finally, from years of experience, I know how to pose you to look your best. No baby bump awkwardness here! No tinge of uneasiness in front of the camera to be seen! Just priceless portraits of your most beautiful journey about to begin. I encourage booking a maternity session between 32 and 35 weeks.
Newborn life is exhausting – for the baby and you! But, a peaceful, slumbering little one is exactly what I hope for during a newborn session. As with maternity sessions, I work to make you and your baby as comfortable as possible. Before your session, I provide a newborn preparation guide with tips to achieve successful portraits. Newborn sessions, typically scheduled between 7 and 14 days after birth, are available in studio or at your home and generally last three hours. Additionally, tired moms do not have to worry about hair and makeup as I coordinate with local beauty professionals to offer you on-site beauty services. Finally, I welcome incorporating your vocations and special interests into your baby's photos. I’ve captured everything from Baby in dad’s firefighter hat to Baby being held in hockey gloves and everything in between. Newborn sessions are discounted when booked with a maternity session.
Introducing the “First 48” sessions. Portraits will be taken at the hospital (or wherever you’ve given birth) within the first 48 hours of your baby’s arrival. These shortened sessions (typically 30 minutes) include 15 black and white digital files with a quick-edit turnaround. The First 48 sessions are only available as an add-on to a booked newborn portrait session.
After you decide to document this incredible life journey, you should consider how you’d like to display your portraits. In addition to our standard photographic options (photographic prints, fine art canvasses, heirloom-quality albums), your newborn portraits, in particular, are ideal for some of our specialty products including newborn keepsake boxes, unique acrylic frames, and wood photo art. All products meet my exceptionally high standards and are verified archival quality. Additionally, I offer design services for pregnancy announcement cards, birth announcement cards, and thank you cards. I use a carefully-vetted professional photo lab to ensure premium quality and client satisfaction with the finished print pieces.
