Time for a break in our holiday programming to bring you this fun couple’s engagement session!
Dylan and Courtney have a love for all things and places downtown, so when planning to propose, Dylan knew he wanted to ask Courtney the big question in a place they loved. After spending the majority of the day at the Outer Harbor and dinner at Shuck Shack, to cap the evening, Dylan took a stroll with Courtney at the Erie Basin Marina and knew it was the perfect time and place to pop the question. So, it seemed fitting to return to some of those spots for their engagement portraits! And, clearly, this couple and I are a match made in “couple/photographer heaven” because of how much I love the outdoors and kayaking at the Outer Harbor. So, they didn’t have to twist my arm much when they chose their session location!
An added stop to the LECOM Harbor Center paid homage to how Courtney and David met…through friends on Dylan’s hockey team their senior year in college. Now, eight years later, they are planning a fun and family-focused wedding for August 2021! I’ve never shot inside Harbor Center before and I’m gushing over these black and white images.
In their own words, Courtney loves that Dylan always has her back and challenges her to be her best self and Dylan loves that Courtney is such a genuine and kind-hearted person…he feels most himself when with her. No truer words were spoken because you can see through their images how much fun they have with each other, how comfortable they are with each other, and that they are simply best friends!
The photographer in me loved the end of their session the most because it had been raining for days before their session and finally the weather cleared up (but it was still freezing, so I give Courtney props for going without a coat for a while!) making way for the calm lake waters and brilliant colors that come after a hard rain.
