Danielle & Tim are one BRAVE couple to agree to come out to play in the snow on a day like today. They are my only couple this year that are daring enough to brave this winter weather. It’s -1 with the wind chill and you wouldn’t even know it from their photos. Thanks guys, besides being extremely cold after, I had a lot of fun!
For nearly three years I’ve been telling my husband that I’m going to design our wedding album. I am like all the other brides out there that says “I’ll get to it”. But for me it’s not because I can’t do it myself, it’s partially because I am always working on someone else’s album. But honestly the reason I haven’t designed my own album is really because I don’t want a flush mount album. Yes, I’m happy to design them all day long, but there is a side of me that truly loves a matted style album. Now, before you wrinkle your nose at what I just typed. Hear me out… In the past few years flush mount albums have gone over the top, from crazy covers and sizes, to funky layouts… its really not my style. OR is it my brides style. 95% of the time my brides when given all the options under the sun, have selected a traditional layout, traditional leather cover and have opted to keep their album design clean and simple. I have more and more brides asking about a matted style albums, so I know I’m not the only one who wants something other than a flush mount album. I brought in a 5×7 matted style album last year to show off some of my favorite card designs, every single person that has picked up this album had gushed over the style of it. I knew I finally had to do something about my love affair with matted albums.
I flew to Vegas last week to attend WPPI and specifically meet with one company. A company that I’ve been drooling over for years, but wanted to make sure the quality was up to my standards before adding it to my line. This album company is not for every bride, it’s for the bride who wants something other than a flush mount album. This album is more about quality and less about quantity. I’m so pleased to say not only am I going to be building my own album, but I’m adding Queensberry to my line up. These albums are stunning heirloom pieces, truly meant to be handed down to the next generation. They are different, yet familiar and traditional. Exactly my style and the style of many of my brides. My sample pack arrived today and I couldn’t be more pleased. (Note: Sample pack photographs are not taken by Lovely Day Photo.)
It’s probably hard to make out, but the bottom left shots are velum, each album will have at least one velum page.
While I was out shopping for new vendors I also found a new company for my flush mount albums. I’ve chosen a company who’s leather quality couldn’t be touched Their photographic pages are smooth, sleek and will never discolor or warp. They have a wide variety of leather colors without getting crazy or compromising their quality. They have a stunning linen collection with thinner pages, perfect for parent albums or even newborn albums. Lovely Day Photo will now offer Kiss Books for our flush mount books. These albums are made right here in the USA and super speedy turn around time, perfect when we get into the holiday season. For any wedding client that is currently booked with Lovely Day Photo, you will have the option of using the old or new album company. I’m pretty sure once you see these leathers and pages, you’ll fall in love just like I did with the Kiss Books!
I finally had a newborn girl in the studio today. It was so nice to play with pink and flowers for a change. Of course, she had to give me a run for my money… she refused to let me tuck in that leg (which I found kind of adorable), refused to let me move her arms, and she peed on my blankets, twice. There is no doubt this little one wanted to run the show today. But check out all that hair, and at 5lbs, 12 oz, she’s a teeny tiny little thing! and such a beautiful mommy-daughter moment! I mean the smiling one, not the crying one. ;)pintopinterest
I have been with my husband for a total of 6 years, and in that time I’ve only spent two Valentine’s Day’s with him. It’s become a running joke in our relationship, and while I’m a romantic, Valentine’s Day isn’t something that we really “celebrate”. This works out great because I have the opportunity to photograph some pretty special weddings, like Dar & Mike’s wedding in the Poconos. This was such a fun and unique wedding that truly made the 6 hour drive (each way) in a snow storm worth it. pintopinterestpintopinterest
