HI! My name is Melissa Sorrentino and I’m the owner & photographer of Lovely Day Photo.
I’m originally from Honeoye Falls, NY where I grew up as a “country girl”, with 100 acres and 11 horses (along with various other animals). I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2002, and moved to Buffalo where I managed four local portrait studio’s. In 2005, I left to pursue my career goal of opening a photography studio. I started my own business in 2006, but came up with the name “Lovely Day Photo” the following year. By 2010 the business had grown so much that I moved the studio out of my apartment, and into the Granite Works Building, two blocks north of downtown Buffalo and in 2015 moved into an even bigger studio in Allentown.
I married my very patient and loving husband, Jimmy, in the summer of 2011. Today we live in downtown Buffalo with our English Bulldog and Silky Terrier. The evenings and weekends I’m not working we are out enjoying everything the city of Buffalo has to offer, or spending the day wine tasting in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Other than photography, my passions include food, coffee, wine, and traveling anywhere I won’t get sunburned. During the summer months you might catch me flying around Elmwood Village on my custom yellow scooter. =)
I have been immersed in the wedding and portrait industry for over 15 years, and can honestly say, not only do I have the experience that you are looking for when hiring a professional photographer, but I also have a level of professionalism and knowledge that comes with experience. Never pushy, I am the kind of photographer that will gracefully photograph your big day, newborn and family portrait sessions by catching those candid moments, and coaching you toward those timeless portraits you will cherish for years to come. My style is not over processed, which means you won’t look back 5-10 years from now and know exactly what year it was based on they way your images were processed. (remember the early-mid 2000’s when touch of color was in style, or 2012 when it was “cool” to jump in the air? Yeah, me too. I try to avoid dating my images with super trendy stuff like that. This ensures you’ll have images you truly love for a lifetime not just a few months!)
As a boutique studio I can only book one wedding per weekend day and typically book 1-2 years in advance. Portrait sessions typically book 3-4 weeks in advance and are scheduled Monday through Friday and weekends based on availability.
